No School! err, No Work!

Since it's going to rain all day today, I don't have to go to work. Most people get work off if it's snowing, but for me it's rain. If it were snowing, that would make weekend work all the more better (more better, heh).

I have no idea what I'm gonna do today, I haven't had a Saturday to myself in a couple months. Maybe I'll go for a run in the rain, I have to start aerobic exercise if I wanna impress my girlfriend when we go to Tuckerman. 3 mile hike uphill woo!

Oh, I think there were a few of you who said you wanted to go on that trip, respond here if you're going, maybe I can make an eVite out of it.

for reference, here is the tuckerman web site: Tuckerman.org

MacGyver

I love MacGyver. What's your favorite episode?

Mine's the one where he gets locked in a shed/garage/warehouse, and the guy he's talking to in the beginning gets killed.

Death And Snowboarding

This weekend I had a fall snowboarding and it could have been bad. But it wasn't. At Sundown there was a demo tent for Arbor Snowboards and, I was smitten by their looks. They're beautiful. Anyway, I got on one of These and headed up the hill. My normal board is 158cm, this monster was 166, and it felt stiffer.

I ran into a co-instructor at the top, and we talked about the board, she said I should take it up on "Stinger" which is a fast, fun, narrow run. I remember another instructor flew into the woods last week on Stinger, and I told her I didn't want to end up like him, since I wasn't used to the board. Anyway, we went down "Canyon Run", a moderate trail, and I was going fast, seeing how far I could push the board, and while I was on my heel edge, it gave out. I slid on my back, turned around, and, at about 20mph, flew into the woods. I only knew I went into the woods when the light was darker, at the last second I covered my head with my hands, and then hit a tree.

It could have been more serious, and thank god it wasn't but it shook me. I eventually learned to ride that board (long wide arcing turns), but it seems to me that it would be best in the pow.

On a side, I can finally spin 360s which I've been trying for years. woo!
