Back in St. Louis

So, I'm back here because we have to finish a project. I just got the dregs of the coffee pot, but it's still good compared to what I tried to drink earlier this morning. I wanted to make coffee in my hotel room with that little coffee pot they give you, and it brewed, and looked like coffee, but the tap water at the hotel is so bad it just ruined the whole pot. The water has this alkaline smell/taste to it, like, remember when you put your tongue on a 9 volt battery, like that. Anyway, the dregs of a pot of good coffee is still good coffee, and I also got these questionable cakey sugar sticks called "Dunkin' Stix" (ha!) from the vending machine, so my diet today is off to a rarin' start.

I have no idea how to occupy my time this week outside of work. I think I'll pick up a new drawing pad, and wander around the area looking for good photo opourtunities. Yea, that'll do.

My Brother Is the Best

Sean's the best, before he left after sleeping over, he did the dishes, and cleaned up my living room. So rad.

Adults Suck

For the past couple days there has been a police officer standing in the middle of the small green in Bethel. This green is right on Greenwood Ave. which is the main drag. On my way home tonight I parked my motorcycle next to the green and got off to speak with the cop.

Me: "Excuse me, can you tell me why there has been an officer standing on this green all day?"
Cop: "Because they told us to."
Me: "Would this have anything to do with the teenagers that used to hang out here?"
Cop: "Yea, they made the green into a park which means you can't be here after dark."
Me: "What if I come down here and get ice cream, can I eat it on this bench here?
Cop: "Nope."
Me: "Doesn't Bethel have a teen center?"
Cop: "Yea, but it closes at 7"

The officer told me that there used to be a lot of trash, and business owners were complaining about the kids. I looked around and didn't see any trash cans, which is odd, because I've never been to a park without trash cans, so it seems to me that the best way Bethel can think to keep trash off the green is to pay a cop overtime to make sure there are no litter bugs, I'm sure that's cheaper than a trashcan. Come to think of it, I don't think Bethel has one trash can on Greenwood Ave. anywhere

That last snippet of our conversation bugged me the most, that is: WHY THE FUCK DOES THE TEEN CENTER CLOSE AT 7?!? Yea, I can remember my wild teenage years, we used to go toss garbage on public lawns, and be in bed by 7. This shitty thing is I saw some teenagers sitting on some benches on the sidewalk about 200 feet away, and they looked real bored. Way to get rid of that "teenager problem" Bethel.

Rain

This is some nice rain, I don't mind it, and it gives me an excuse to wear warm clothes. This has been the best summer ever. Usually summer for me is just some time when I'm all hot and uncomfortable waiting for the snow to come back. Not so this year, it's been fantastic, I've enjoyed work, and not work, the two trips up to Lake George were fantastic, and the Cape is still just as fun as ever.

I can't wait for the leaves to change, I think I enjoy the change of seasons more than the seasons themselves. You know that day you walk outside, and it's brisk, and the air smells slightly of rotten leaves? You know fall is comming. How about walking out the door to discover that the air smells of snow, and it's colder than you thought it'd be? Thats the best.

Dancin' in the Rain -- Shel Silverstein

So what if it drizzles
And dribbles and drips?
I'll splash in the garden,
I'll dance on the roof.
Let it rain on my skin,
It can't get in--
I'm waterproof.
